In recognition of Overdose Awareness Day, Huron County Public Health in partnership with Let’s Get Real Huron County, will is hosting a free community event this evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Suhr Family Park in Norwalk.
The event will provide an opportunity for community members to come together, learn more about overdose prevention and local resources, and connect with organizations working to support individuals and families impacted by substance use.
Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, learn about available resources, and show their support for those affected by overdose.
The event will include a free meal and free t-shirt while supplies last.
The Michigan man accused of the shooting death of a man in a Put-in-Bay bar has entered an insanity plea.
The Sandusky Register says that 22-year-old Colton Smith has changed his plea to not guilty by reason of insanity in which he will now have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
The shooting incident happened in July at Mr. Ed’s Bar & Grille with the victim identified as 39-year-old Rob Russell from Chesterland, Ohio.
Monroeville Schools has their first full-time school resource officer.
The Norwalk Reflector reports that Frank Sirse first reported for duty this past Wednesday as students returned to classes for the 2026-27 school year.
Sirse will look to address safety issues and build relationships throughout the school.
A promotion within the Norwalk Fire Department…
According to Norwalk Ohio News, Ryan Houghtlen is now a fire lieutenant in Norwalk.
Houghtlen began his firefighting career with Perkins Township in 2005 and then joined the Norwalk Fire Department in 2016.
A house fire in Wellington has been ruled an act of arson.
It happened August 24th around 10:20 pm at a residence on Middle Street.
The house was vacant at the time of the blaze, with no injuries reported.
