The State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle injury crash that occurred yesterday afternoon on Route 113 near Harrison Road in Erie County.

Authorities say 73-year-old Calvin Burnworth of Wakeman suffered serious injuries when he failed to maintain an assured clear distance and his vehicle struck 42-year-old Patrick Wetzel’s trailer as he was backing into a field.

Wetzel was not hurt.

West Nile Virus was discovered on a dead bird in Sandusky County.

According to the Sandusky Register, the bird was found on a residential property in Gibsonburg.

Because of that positive test, residents are being warned to try their best to avoid getting bitten by a mosquito. 

Plans are coming together for a special event at the Berlin Heights Public Library this Saturday.

The library invites foodies and residents to celebrate their summer reading program at their upcoming ‘Desserts From around the World’ event featuring homemade sweets inspired by classic international recipes.

The event will take place from 11:00 to 1:00, featuring many free samples.

 

Willard’s Sesquicentennial celebration is right around the corner as they continue to look for parade participants.

Those interested in entering the parade can sign up on the City of Willard Facebook page or by printing a form and turning it in.

Grand Marshal nominations are also being accepted until July 24th.

The parade will take place Sunday, August 4th at 4:00 pm.

Huron River Fest takes place this weekend.

The annual event will feature a variety of unique vendors, touch-a-truck, a 5K race, a parade, fireworks and a whole lot more.

Hours for the festival are 5 to 10:30 pm Friday, Saturday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm and Sunday from 11 to 5. 

 

Sheffield Village is set to replace water meters and charge monthly fee for the replacement. 

The village will replace water meters in residential and commercial properties with smart meters, according to ordinances recently passed by Village Council.

Residential water accounts will be charged $5 per month, public institutional accounts $10 per month and industrial water accounts $20 per month.
