More details have been released about a man who was struck and killed by a train in Sandusky Sunday night.

According to the Sandusky Register, it took place at the railroad crossing on Mills Street, with the man identified as 23-year-old Logan Stevens.

Family members say Stevens had been experiencing mental health issues.

Authorities say the incident appears to be an intentional act.

One in jail and one in the hospital from a Sandusky stabbing…

According to the Sandusky Register, a stabbing occurred Sunday morning as law enforcement officers were called to the 100 block of Columbus Avenue.

Police say that an investigation shown that a woman was being assaulted by a man and that a second man, 29-year-old Dominique Morris, tried to intervene and stabbed the first man. 

The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital while Morris was arrested on charges of felonious assault and domestic violence.

As July continues, so does the critical need for blood and platelet donors say the American Red Cross.

Right now, the American Red Cross asks donors to make and keep appointments this month to support lifesaving transfusion needs all summer long.   

All who come to give blood or platelets by July 31st will get a Fandango Movie Ticket by email in connection with the release of the movie, Twisters.

The State Highway Patrol is reporting 16 people lost their lives in 15 traffic crashes during the July Fourth reporting period in Ohio, which began Wednesday, July 3rd and ended Sunday, July 7th.

In nine of the fatalities in which safety belts were available, seven were unbelted.

The “Stuff the Bus” program is getting ready for its 15th year this summer in Norwalk.

Parents in Norwalk City Schools, Norwalk Catholic Schools, and Trinity Christian School can benefit from Stuff the Bus if they need help providing the required school supplies to their children.

Distribution will be Friday, July 19th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Norwalk Board of Education office on Benedict Avenue.

Road work in Huron County starts today.

Sand Hill Road, just south of the Route 20 intersection, will be closed for a bridge replacement for 75 days.

A detour route will be posted.

The city of Norwalk wants your input.

A survey has been posted in regards to the update of the city’s Comprehensive Master Plan.

The railroad crossing at Conwell Avenue (Route 99) is being shut down to traffic for five days.

The city says to plan on using an alternate route.

Lorain High School’s boys’ basketball coach has been placed on paid administrative leave.

School officials say Matt Kielian allegedly “hurriedly pushed and brushed” past Superintendent Jeff Graham at the school’s commencement ceremony and took his son’s diploma out of Principal Melissa Cheers’ hands to hand to his son.
