A 25-year-old Sandusky man was killed by a train Wednesday afternoon. 

According to the Sandusky Register, Arthur Weyer, Junior was struck by a train near the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Huntington Avenue.

Police say Weyer waited for a westbound train to go by, then was hit by an eastbound train while attempting to walk across the tracks.

The tracks in that area are private property and illegal to cross by pedestrians.

A wood-pile fire in Norwalk was too close for comfort. 

The Norwalk Reflector reports that the fire on Seminary Road was extinguished by firefighters before it could spread to a nearby barn and garage.

The fire started in a burn barrel and got into a pile of wood, said fire officials.

Damage was done to a backhoe and tractor.

No one was hurt.

The Elyria Council of Veterans wants to make sure, veterans can take part in the city’s Memorial Day parade even if they are unable to walk the full mile.

The Veterans Council has teamed up with the Lorain County Visitors Bureau, to offer a trolley for those veterans who want to ride along the parade route.

After the parade, the trolley will take the veterans to American Legion Post 12 for an hour of friendship and beverages, then return them to the city hall parking lot between 12:30 and 1.

The Strawberry Festival gets underway tomorrow in Norwalk. 

In preparation, Main Street will close at 4 pm today between Milan Avenue/Woodlawn Avenue to Case Avenue/Church Street.

Also, the parking lot in Suhr Park will close at 4 pm today.

All locations will open back up on Monday morning.

Send off ceremonies today in Springfield Ohio…for nearly 300 members of the Ohio Army National Guard.

Two units have been called up, to support the U-S Central Command.

It’s festival time in Port Clinton.

The 42nd annual Walleye Festival starts up this evening at Waterworks Park.

The event includes live music, festival food, a Grande Parade, a Kids Fishing Derby and much more.

It runs through Sunday.

Family, friends and fans are mourning the death of singer Tina Turner…she died yesterday at the age of 83.

Tina was born in Brownsville Tennessee…as was her uncle…former Elyria City Councilman Leo Bullocks.

He served on council for 20 years…passing away in 1992.
