A fatal crash in Berlin Township…

It happened just after 9:30 last night on Route 61.

The Highway Patrol says, 80-year-old William Hildebrand was walking across Route 61 when he was struck and killed by an oncoming motorist.

The crash remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed.

Today, a suburban Brooklyn man is scheduled to return to Lorain County Common Pleas Court to receive his sentence for a fatal crash in Columbia Township nearly 2 years ago.

33-year-old Kendal Lipke had pled ‘guilty’ to several charges.

Lipke was accused of driving left-of-center on East River Road and killing an oncoming driver…52-year-old Chuck Thall of Strongsville.

A Sandusky man convicted in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Sandusky man has been sentenced.

According to the Sandusky Register, 20-year-old Jacob Owens faces life in prison with parole options in 36 years.

Owens was convicted last month on an aggravated murder charge in the 2021 death of Tajour Tye.

Construction on a bridge project in Huron County begins today. 

The Huron County Engineer’s Office says the Auster Road Bridge Truss Replacement Project in Wakeman Township will take about 90 days to complete.  

The 1 million dollar project is funded fully by a federal grant.

You can get on, but you can’t get off…the Ohio Turnpike that is…at Baumhart Road.

The exit ramps will be closed through June for what the turnpike commission calls, ‘toll collection system upgrades’.

It’s part of a massive construction project, updating toll plaza interchanges across the state.

A big-time retailer is headed to the Sandusky Mall…

The nation’s leading off-price home décor store, HomeGoods, will open a new location at the Sandusky Mall Complex by early 2024.

The retailer will occupy more than 22,000 square feet in a location in the Sandusky Pavilion section of the complex, between Ulta Beauty and Old Navy.
