The heat has returned.  

Dangerous heat is forecasted today, with highs in the mid 90’s.

Drink plenty of water if you have to be outside and try to find shade or time in air conditioning.

A community cooling center will open in Sandusky today and tomorrow. 

It’ll be held at Eagles Nest Church on Pipe Street from 11 am to 7 pm.

A cooling shelter and light food will be provided.

A man from Norwalk died in a car crash Friday in Maryland.

The Norwalk Reflector reports that 33-year-old Jordan Maddocks was struck by a semi-truck on I-70 after he had gotten out of his vehicle to check on it following a crash with a deer.

Maddocks was a 2007 Norwalk High School grad, where he was a standout in track and field and cross country.

A Tiffin firefighter who had Norwalk ties has died from cancer related to his job.  

Sean Tyler was 37.

Tyler’s father, grandfather and two uncles served at the Norwalk Fire Department.

Tyler had retired in 2019 after working with the Tiffin Fire Department since 2007.

…Ribbon cutting ceremonies yesterday for the Mercy Health Sheffield Medical Center on Detroit Road.

It spans 16-thousand-square feet, and will offer a wide variety of services.

The Perkins Police Department is investigating a hit-skip accident that occurred in the main parking lot of the Sandusky Mall on Monday afternoon. 

Authorities say an unknown vehicle hit a black Ford Escape and then left.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Perkins P-D.

Second Harvest Food Bank brings its free mobile food pantry to Willard today.

Willard Parks and Rec will host the food giveaway from 3 to 5 pm.
